 On Writing Your Objectives

NOTES

Purpose

  • behavioral/performance

  • describes what should happen after the activity

The 3 parts

  • conditions – describe the situation, limits, supplies, materials, tools and equipment under which the behavior will be performed

  • performance – states what observable behavior the learner/audience must demonstrate

  • standards – describe how much is required or how precisely the quality of work must be performed

 

For example

 

 

After reading the story, the reader should be able to differentiate . . .

After listening to the plug, the audience shall prefer . . .

At the end of the video presentation, the viewer shall be able to assemble . . .

 

Categories – based on the three learning domains

  • cognitive: knowledge and intellectual abilities

  • psychomotor: physical action and motor skills

  • affective: feelings and attitudes
